Detailed description
POSITION OVERVIEW
We are seeking 2 PhD students to work on various aspects of a research project focused on the additive manufacturing of multifunctional adaptive structures. We offer a highly stimulating environment for individual growth alongside a competent team of 40+ researchers, as well as training opportunities for professional development. PhD students will receive a stipend of $25k/year along with additional opportunities for teaching assistantship.
Our institute is strongly committed to fostering diversity and inclusion. We encourage women, Indigenous BIPOC students, as well as researchers with disabilities students, racialized scientists as well as researchers with disabilities and from LGBTQ2+ communities to submit their application. Accommodations are available on a confidential basis.
PROJECT SUMMARY
The research project aims to design, simulate, and fabricate hybrid composite structures with embedded actuation and sensing for the adaptive structures to be applied in both aerospace and biomedical fields. The project is led by Prof. Sampada Bodkhe. Multiple positions are available with a focus on: (i) Automated fabrication of smart structures, (ii) numerical simulation and FE analysis of multifunctional structures, and (iii) advanced additive manufacturing of reconfigurable structures.
Financing possibility
PhD students will receive a stipend of $25k/year along with additional opportunities for teaching assistantship.
