Montréal - Polytechnique Montréal is proud to announce that Full Professor Carl-Éric Aubin from the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Associate Professor in the Department of Surgery at the Faculty of Medicine at the Université de Montréal, researcher at CHU Sainte-Justine and Executive Director and scientist of the TransMedTech Institute, has been named Officer of the Order of Canada, Canada’s highest civilian honour.

Montréal - Polytechnique Montréal and Safran - one of the largest equipment manufacturers in the propulsion and aeronautical, space and defense equipment industries have announced the signing of a new framework agreement that by 2025, will permit the start of several research projects to which a hundred students and fifteen professors will contribute.

In spite of the COVID-19 pandemic, Polytechnique Montréal is seeing impressive growth in the next generation – and semester! - of students, with enrolment surging by 8.5% for the Summer Semester. The largest increases are in Master’s and Certificate programs.

Montréal – With pride and solemnity, Polytechnique Montréal’s Executive awards the Order of the White Rose to Édith Ducharme, and this, a day before the 30th anniversary of the December 6, 1989 tragedy. Ducharme is a Université de Laval Engineering Physics graduate. Polytechnique established the Order of the White Rose in 2014, in homage to the 14 women murdered on December 6, 1989. A $30,000 bursary is awarded annually to a female Canadian engineering student who is pursuing engineering graduate studies in Canada or elsewhere in the world.

Montréal – If you’ve ever stopped to watch rain falling on a windowpane, you’ve seen what happens when two drops of water touch and merge into one. But you probably never imagined that the physics at work in this phenomenon was the key to unlocking a solution for the development of miniaturized personal biological analysis devices. An international team of scientists from IBM Research – Zurich and the Microfluidics for Oncology Laboratory at Polytechnique Montréal made this remarkable discovery, and recently published the results of their work in Nature.
