Folie Technique wins the Coup de chapeau des membres award from the Association des camps du Québec (ACQ)
On November 12, Folie Technique, Polytechnique's science day camp, was awarded the Coup de chapeau des membres (hats off from the members) award at the ACQ's excellence gala.
Each year, the ACQ showcases the projects developed by the camps that touch on the social, educational or economic aspect of their organizations' work. Everyone works hard to improve their camps, their programming and their services in order to better serve their clientele. The Hommage (tribute) and Porteur de flambeau (standard-bearer) awards, for their part, are given to major players in the camps world to highlight their careers. At its conference in November, the ACQ acknowledge projects that had made their mark in 2014 in the social, economic and educational realms.
The winning project presented by Folie Technique was the Semaine Génie biomédical (biomedical engineering week) offered in partnership with Sainte-Justine University Hospital Centre this past summer to teens aged 14 to 17. For a week, Sainte-Justine UHC opened its doors to these young people to introduce them to the fascinating world of biomedical engineering, an interdisciplinary field that brings together medicine, biology, engineering and physics. The teens had the opportunity to enjoy several activities: access to laboratories, meetings with the hospital staff, CPR classes, and chances to learn about medical imaging and instrumentation.

Every year, the Salon des finalistes takes place a few hours before the excellence awards are presented. The event offers finalists in each of the four categories the opportunity to present the project they submitted to the other members attending the annual conference gala. At the salon, the other members can learn about the nominees and determine the Coup de chapeau des membres award winner by voting.
Our heartiest congratulations!
