On April 16, awards were presented for the best projects completed as part of the Project personnel en génie électrique (personal electrical engineering project) course for the 2014 winter semester. Once again, the students demonstrated great meticulousness and presented quality projects.

Under the guidance of a professor or engineer appointed by the Department, students are given an engineering design assignment. They are asked to produce a professional-quality report that generally includes a review of past work, the definition and situation of the problem, the chosen method and solution, the results obtained and a discussion. The project concludes with a poster presentation in the Lorne Trottier Atrium.

Three prizes were awarded by the jury:

1st prize: Pierre-Luc Godin – Design and stabilization of a self-balancing personal transporter
2nd prize: Mathieu Boudreault – Cycling simulator for a stationary bicycle
3rd prize: Antoine Rivard – System to protect power lines from ice accumulation

From left to right: Christian Cardinal, Professor and Educational Evaluator; Christian O'Reilly, Postdoctoral Fellow and Educational Evaluator; Réjean Plamondon, Professor, Course Co-ordinator and Educational Evaluator; Martin Rousselle, Engineer, Director, Tests and Diagnostics for the Image division, Matrox, jury member; Mathieu Boudreault (2nd prize); Pierre-Luc Godin (1st prize); Antoine Rivard (3rd prize); Patrick Fernet, Engineer, Director at Callicom International Associates, jury member; Vitiello Patrick Jeanty, Engineer, Team Leader Telecom Engineering at BPR, Chair of the jury.
