Official launch of the new certificate in IT network computer security
From hacking to pirating to viruses, the number of threats to information networks is constantly increasing. To identify and
prevent these dangers and to provide knowledge and develop skills to deal with incidents, a new certificate in IT network
computer security will be offered starting this fall by the Centre de formation continue (centre for continuing
education) at Polytechnique Montréal.
“Despite the fact that topics related to online
investigation, online fraud and IT security are regularly featured in the news and are among businesses' main concerns, until
now no cutting-edge training has existed to deal in depth with these emerging issues,” said Pierre G. Lafleur, Dean of
Academic and International Affairs, at the launch, adding: “Since 2007, Polytechnique has been one of the extremely rare
institutions to meet the demand in the area of computer crime by offering exclusive programs.”
Gervais Ouellet, certificate co-ordinator
In addition to the new certificate,
Polytechnique Montréal has offered a certificate in online investigation since 2007 and a certificate in online fraud since
2010. Students who have successfully completed the three certificates can obtain a cumulative bachelor's degree.
“Graduates in this field are assured excellent
career perspectives,” said Mr. Ouellet.
“Computer crime has become a scourge. Businesses and organizations are very interested in digital investigation
specialists.”
The new certificate's launch has been covered by a
