JDG2011: Polytechnique Montréal finishes third overall!
The 21st Jeux de génie/Engineering Games took place January 3 to 7, 2011, at Université de Sherbrooke. With the theme "Cinema," the event brought together 500 future engineers from 12 Québec universities for range of knowledge- and skill-testing competitions.
The organizers, who have presented a glowing report of this year's games, noted the fine sporting spirit shown by each delegation throughout the week. Partners, in turn, were amazed at the welcome they received, with several commenting on the event's pervasive enthusiasm and camaraderie.
In the wake of last year's games, the organizing committee encouraged participants to adopt a more environmentally
responsible attitude. The committee made compost bins available during mealtimes as well as re-usable beverage containers to
avoid the overuse of disposable cups.
Polytechnique did very well, finishing third overall, just behind École de technologie supérieure and Université Laval,
respectively the second- and first-place winners of JDG2011.

Donations to local charitable organization Estrie-Aide
It has become traditional for the Games to support
a charity. This year, a cheque for $2,000 was given to Estrie-Aide, a local organization that helps people in need on a daily
basis.
Congratulations to all delegates and to the organizing committee!
About the Jeux de génie / Engineering Games
Since 1990, the Jeux de génie / Engineering Games have given
Québec undergraduate engineering students a chance to test their mettle in an atmosphere of friendly competition. The games are
part of the activities overseen by the Québec Confederation for Engineering Student Outreach (QCESO). Over the years, their
popularity has increased to the point where they are now the largest provincial engineering games in Canada. They also give
students from across the province a prime opportunity to mix and mingle. Each year the event is hosted by a different Québec
engineering institution.
