Émilie Bédard, civil engineering doctoral student at Polytechnique Montréal, receives the 2012 American Water Scholarship

The award is presented annually by the American Water Works Association (AWWA).


The water treatment utility American Water recently announced that Émilie Bédard, civil engineering doctoral student at Polytechnique Montréal, is the recipient of the 2012 American Water Scholarship. The $5,000 bursary is awarded each year to encourage the development of professionals working in service to the water industry.

Bédard was selected for her exceptional academic skill, her industrial experience   and her motivation to contribute to the advancement of science in the realm of potable water, particularly when children's health is concerned. Her recent research focuses, among others, on the presence and control of pathogens in water distribution networks, specifically those in hospitals.
