To promote the development of new products that help the construction and building management industry stay competitive and conquer new markets, Contech has awarded an innovation prize annually for the last 18 years. École Polytechnique has won the 2005 Trophée Contech in the "Innovative Practice in Sustainable Development" category for the construction of the Lassonde buildings.

Standing in for project leader Michel Rose, Chantal Cantin, Director of École Polytechnique's Communications and Public Relations Office, accepted the award at the Bâtiments Contech event, held in the Québec City Convention Centre.
This is the third honour to be garnered by Polytechnique's newest facilities. The first, awarded in January 2004 before work on the Claudette-MacKay-Lassonde and Pierre-Lassonde buildings was even finished, was Canadian Architect magazine's Award of Merit, presented to the team of architects Saia Barbarese Toupouzanov/Desnoyers Mercure et associés/Menkès Shooner Dagenais architectes in recognition of the project's environmental qualities and respect for the existing topography and pedestrian network.

Then, in October 2004, École Polytechnique received the Pilier d'or, the top prize in the contest held by the Association des gestionnaires de parcs immobiliers institutionnels (AGPI). The school won in the "Technical Merit and Innovation" category for the construction of the buildings, which combined respect for the environment with efficiency in a context of sustainable development and innovation in terms of both technology and energy savings.
