Carabins player Sébastien Robichaud selected to represent the RSEQ for the Dale Iwanoczko Award
On February 15, the Réseau du sport étudiant du Québec (Québec student sports network - RSEQ) announced the lineup of the provincial men's university volleyball all-star team as well as the names of individual award recipients.
Sébastien Robichaud, an undergraduate aerospace engineering student at Polytechnique Montréal and player for the
Université de Montréal Carabins, was chosen to represent the RSEQ for the Canadian Interuniversity Sport Dale Iwanoczko Award.
The award honours students who show outstanding athletic and academic achievement as well as community involvement.
Six years ago, when he first tried out for high school volleyball, Sébastien never dreamt he'd be where he is today. Playing for the Carabins, he combines his passion for sports with other interests, notably aviation. His interest in flying was sparked at a young age. By age 17, he had accomplished his first solo flight. When it came time to decide upon a university, there was no doubt in his mind that Polytechnique's aerospace engineering program would allow him to combine all of his interests.
Today, aged 21, Sébastien continues to nourish his passion for aviation by working as a flying instructor on weekends. He also serves as technical director of Poly's Avion Cargo committee and is the treasurer of his program's student council.
Our congratulations to Sébastien for this honour!
