Titre : Future challenges in software evolution and quality analysis from industrial & academic perspectives

Conférencier : Dr. Aiko Yamashita, Adjunct Associate Professor at Oslo and Akershus University College of Applied Sciences, Norway and Research Scientist at CWI, Netherlands.

Résumé :
This talk presents some of the major findings of a controlled case study conducted for assessing the suitability of code smells as indicators of software maintainability, complemented by additional studies around the topic of inter-smells and refactoring behaviour. The results are not surprising, and not very hopeful either: quality in software is a hairy, chaotic problem. There is still a great challenge for developing adaptable, useful, and accessible quality models and evaluation methodologies that can (really) be used in industry. Based on the major research results; trends and experiences from industry, the talk explores some potential ways to deal with the chaotic facets of software development.

Bio:
Aiko Yamashita is an Adjunct Associate Professor at Oslo and Akershus University College of Applied Sciences, Norway and a Research Scientist at CWI, Netherlands. Her research is focused on Empirical Software Engineering, Source Code Analysis, Human Factors in Software, Software Quality, and Open Data and Collaboration. She has over eight years of industrial experience as software engineer and consultant in Costa Rica, USA, Sweden and Norway within diverse organisations. She serves on program committees for International Conference in Software Maintenance and Evolution, Working Conference on Source Code Analysis and Manipulation (SCAM), International Conference on Mining Software Repositories (MSR), International Conference on Program Comprehension (ICPC), International Conference on Evaluation and Assessment in Software Engineering (EASE), International Workshop on Refactoring (IWoR), and International Workshop on Software Engineering and Industrial Practice (SER&IP). She has been part of the organizing committee at International Conference on Program Comprehension (ICPC 2015) and is part of the organizing committee for IEEE International Conference on Software Analysis, Evolution and Reengineering (SANER 2017, as Co-Chair for the Tool Demo Track). Dr. Yamashita is also part of the IEEE Software Initiatives Team.
