Teaching labs
Any user wishing to access a teaching lab must be either a Polytechnique student or employee and have a valid magnetized ID card from Polytechnique Montréal.
Users should consult the list of installed software available at the entrance to each laboratory to ensure that they use the appropriate lab. It is strictly forbidden to copy any copyright-protected software or install unauthorized applications. Any user not using the teaching lab resources for academic purposes must yield the space on request.
Users must respect the schedule of use posted at the entrance to each lab, access to which is authorized only for the user group specified in the reservation.
To optimize teaching lab use, after any absence whatsoever of more than 15 minutes’ duration, that user forfeits the right to occupy the workstation. After this period, any items found on the workstation will be taken to and held by Security. This regulation applies at all times.
Any act of sabotage to hardware or software, whether temporary or permanent, can seriously interfere with the teaching lab’s work environment. The malicious use of institutional resources, including communication networks, is also strictly prohibited.
Users may borrow documentation by presenting a valid ID card at the service desk and, as needed, filling out the appropriate form. Borrowed materials must be returned the same day by 4 p.m.
Users of Polytechnique’s teaching labs are strictly prohibited from doing the following: consuming food, beverages or cigarettes; entering the lab with food; making copies of any licensed software available to users; and using teaching lab workstations to play games. When the lab has been reserved by teaching staff, users who are not part of the course in question must leave the lab at the instructor’s request.
