Research Specification

This Chair results from a partnership between École Polytechnique and the firm Ericsson. Its goal is to create a home for excellence in fundamental and applied research, to train highly qualified personnel, to ensure technological watch and transfer knowledge on next-generation mobile networking systems. We use the expression next-generation mobile networking systems (NGMNS) to refer to Internet-based environments which integrate mobile components through wireless links and are dedicated to deliver value-added services of various levels of availability and quality of service.
The main concerns of this Chair are centred on wireless Internet technologies and their interactions with mobile computing, the orientation a great number of applications will take in the years to come. We aim to develop new concepts, methodologies, models, algorithms, protocols, prototypes, and the relevant software tools to design, analyze, plan, provision, operate and evaluate next generation mobile networking systems (NGMNS).
