Research areas description

The group's mission is to carry out applied research and development work in the field of product development and manufacturing engineering. Current activities include:

  • Machine and process modelling;

  • Part and machine metrology;

  • Application and development of Fuzzy logic and genetic algorithms;

  • Analysis and synthesis of product tolerances;

  • Analysis and synthesis of process plans;

  • The machining of metal matrix composites and tool wear;

  • High speed machining;

  • High speed machining;

Specialized equipment

Machining laboratory (Matsuura 5 axes, tour Bridgeport); Dimensional metrology laboratory (coordinate measuring machine, laser interferometer, Talyrond). A CFI grant of 4,8M$ will allow the purchase of a high speed machining centre, a linear motor milling machine, a multi-axis lathe, a high precision CMM and the instrumentation required to study advanced processes and machines.
