Research Specification

  • Investigate the technical and economic feasibility of the biorefinery implementation in pulp and paper mills.
  • Develop processes simulations of the hemicelluloses extraction and transformation, the lignin recovery and primary treatment, and the gasification of forest biomass (wood residues, spent delignification liquor).
  • Propose new methodologies for energy optimization of the biorefinery units and pulp and paper processes.
  • Contribute to the development of green integrated forest biorefinery concept.
  • Develop and maintain a collaboration with Canadian and foreign universities and industrial partners working in the biorefinery field.
