SPHERES OF EXCELLENCE IN RESEARCH
Polytechnique Montreal’s research activities are organized around three sector-based spheres of excellence and three theme-based spheres of excellence. These are the spheres of excellence in which our researchers carry out leading edge research efforts. They also pave the way towards large multidisciplinary projects which favour open innovation in a sustainable development perspective. This is why Polytechnique Montreal encourages the appointment of professors, the creation of new research units and research centres, the acquisition of state-of-the-art equipment and the creation of new research chairs in those spheres of excellence.
Sector-based spheres of excellence
Polytechnique Montreal conducts research activities in three sector-based spheres of excellence in highly competitive fields:
These three sector-based spheres of excellence are of strategic importance for Montreal, Quebec and Canada. They are supported by a well-structured sector-based environment and by the local presence of numerous small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), major originators, and research consortiums.
