The Nuclear Engineering Institute (Institut de génie nucléaire), which is now part of the engineering physics department, was established in 1970 and manages the M. Sc. program in energy engineering and the Ph. D. program in nuclear engineering. Our main research activities are concentrated in the following three domains: reactor physics, reactor thermal-hydraulics and neutron activation analysis. We have two major experimental facilities: a 20 kW SLOWPOKE-2 reactor and a 400 kW thermal-hydraulic loop. More theoretical research work in reactor physics is also pursued and has lead to the creation of the lattice physics code DRAGON and of the finite reactor code DONJON.
