Fast-track programs

The fast-track programs allow you to complete graduate studies faster than by the regular course of study.

1. BMI (Integrated bachelor’s and master’s degree)

The integrated bachelor’s and master’s degree program allows you to complete a bachelor in engineering and a master’s degree by taking 15 credits less than by the regular course of study

To be admitted, you must:

  • be registered in a bachelor’s degree at Polytechnique;
  • have a 3.0/4 grade point average;
  • have completed 105 credits of coursework (or be in the process of completing these credits during the trimester in progress).

Program details :

  • 150 credits (comprised of 105 undergraduate and 45 graduate credits)
  • bachelor degree in engineering and master’s degree
  • overall length of study reduced by one trimester

2. Direct entry from the bachelor’s to the doctorate degree

The direct entry from the bachelor’s to the doctorate degree allows you to start your doctoral studies as soon as you complete your bachelor’s degree in engineering, without having to complete a master’s degree. This allows you to shorten your studies by by a year and a half.

To be admitted, you must:

  • have completed a bachelor’s degree in engineering (or an equivalent degree) or be a final-year engineering student;
  • have a 3.2/4 grade point average.

Program details :

  • standard doctorate degree (8 to 11 trimesters)
  • 90 credits
  • overall length of study reduced by a year and a half

3. Direct entry from the master’s to the doctorate degree

The direct entry from the master’s to the doctorate degree allows you to start your doctoral studies without having to complete a master’s degree. This allows you to shorten your studies by one year.
To be admitted, you must:

  • have completed 9 credits at the master’s level;
  • have a good academic record and a recommendation letter from the research supervisor.

Program details :

  • standard doctoral program, 90 credits
  • opportunity to obtain a master’s and doctorate degree
  • overall length of study reduced by one year
