Prospective graduate students
Financial difficulties
In case of emergency, you can have recourse to Polytechnique’s emergency fund available to graduate students experiencing financial difficulties.
You can also talk about your problem to your research supervisor, who will, in some cases, be able to provide you with some financial assistance.
If you do not benefit from the recommended funding amount (MAFS), try to obtain it from your research supervisor!
In case of emergency, if you have been registered in a thesis-based master’s or doctorate program for at least one semester, you can have recourse to this fund created by Polytechnique within the framework of its graduate student supervision policy. It is worth noting that this financial aid is punctual and refundable, depending on the situation.
You can get the appropriate form at the Student Services Office(*) (Service aux étudiants). This form will have to be signed by your research supervisor and by your department’s graduate studies coordinator (CPES).
It is possible to find an agreement with Polytechnique’s Finance services by letting them know about your problems.
The Finance Services(*) can freeze or deduct part of your financial aid cheques and thereby spread your tuition costs over several months. Beware that to avoid being charged late fees, you should not wait for the deadline to discuss the issue with the Finance Services.
