Michel Meunier named Fellow of the Optical Society of America

Michel Meunier, a professor in Polytechnique Montréal's Department of Engineering Physics and holder of the Canada Research Chair in Micro- and Nano-Engineering of Materials Using Lasers, has been named a Fellow Member of the Optical Society of America (OSA) in recognition of his exceptional contribution to the field of optics and photonics.

Two Polytechnique teams take top competition honours at the 2012 Institute of Industrial Engineering Canadian convention in Halifax

January 26th, 2012 - Beating out some 10 other Canadian institutions, including University of Toronto, École de technologie supérieure, Concordia University, Université Laval and several more, two teams of Polytechnique Montréal students scored a veritable tour de force when both took first place in two major challenges: the Case Studies competition and the Theory competition.

CFI and Gouvernement du Québec award nearly $800,000 to finance a research infrastructure project at Polytechnique Montréal

The Canada Foundation for Innovation (CFI) announced, on January 24, 2012, an investment of nearly $400,000 to finance facilities for research on coatings and surface engineering. This is in addition to a subsidy for an identical amount from the Gouvernement du Québec. 

Prestigious distinction for Professor David Haccoun

David Haccoun, a full professor in Polytechnique's Department of Electrical Engineering, has received the 2012 R. A. Fessenden Award from the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) for his contribution to the field of telecommunications.  Professor Haccoun was chosen to receive the honour for his outstanding contributions in transmission error control by convolutional coding and its wireless communications applications.

Seven students rewarded for their personal electrical engineering projects

January 19th, 2012 - On December 7, prizes were awarded to honour the best personal projects created by third-year students as part of the Projet personnel en génie électrique (personal electrical engineering project) course (ELE3000).
