This award was created to mark the retirement in 1998 of former President and Director-General of the Society. The Board of CGS then invited Tony Stermac to allow his name to be associated with the awards known previously as Distinguished Service Plaques. The Stermac Service Awards are given each year to a small number of members of the Society who have contributed specific, special, worthy or significant service to the Society.
