Research areas description

This Chair, based at Polytechnique Montréal and integrated within the Global Science Diplomacy Hub for Arctic and Space Cooperation, is a unique transdisciplinary program dedicated to advancing scientific and technological collaboration in extreme and geopolitically sensitive environments, including:

• Northern Circumpolar Regions

• Outer Space and Celestial Bodies

The Hub explores the deep parallels between the Arctic and outer space, and seeks to address environmental, technological, and diplomatic challenges. Rooted in the values of peace, scientific cooperation, and sustainable governance, it generates new knowledge to inform policy decisions grounded in science and techno-diplomacy. This approach is based on collaboration that takes into account on-the-ground realities and the perspectives of the communities involved, within an integrated vision of sustainable development for both the North and Space. The Hub also contributes to training a new generation of scientific and technological diplomats dedicated to serving people and our home planet.
