Detailed description
We are seeking an exceptional Postdoctoral Fellow specializing in Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) to join our dynamic research team, PEARL, at Polytechnique Montreal. The ideal candidate will apply their expertise in CFD to address complex challenges in chemical and mining engineering. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to collaborate on cutting-edge research projects, publish in high-impact journals, and contribute to the development of innovative solutions.
The candidate should be open to travel to visit and collaborate with our industrial partner.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct high-level research in Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), focusing on multiphase flows and reactor modeling.
- Develop, validate, and optimize CFD models and simulations to address research problems.
- Analyze data and interpret results to gain insights into fluid behavior and system performance.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including experimentalists and engineers, to integrate CFD models with real-world applications.
- Publish findings in peer-reviewed journals.
- Contribute to the preparation of research proposals and reports.
- Assist in supervising related projects.
Required Qualifications:
- PhD in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering, or a related field with a strong focus on Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD).
- Demonstrated experience in developing and applying CFD simulations to solve complex fluid mechanics problems.
- Strong proficiency in CFD software (e.g., COMSOL, ANSYS Fluent, OpenFOAM, or similar tools) and programming languages (Python, C++, MATLAB, etc.).
- Solid understanding of numerical methods for solving partial differential equations (PDEs), turbulence modeling, and fluid-structure interactions.
- Experience with high-performance computing environments and parallel computing is an asset.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with a strong publication record in relevant areas.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in multiphase flow, heat transfer and Maxwell equations.
- Familiarity with experimental validation of CFD results.
- Experience with machine learning techniques or data-driven methods applied to CFD is a plus.
- Strong project management skills and ability to work independently.
What we value:
- Diversity.
- Collaboration.
- Innovation.
