Research areas description

The Jarislowsky/AtkinsRéalis Research Chair is dedicated to studying the challenges of planning and controlling international projects. Its multidisciplinary research and training program focuses on process transformation and on the development of computational tools and information systems that leverage various simulation, optimization, and artificial intelligence approaches. The objective is to support the planning and monitoring of complex engineering projects. The Chair organizes its activities around six main objectives:

  • Contribute to the advancement of knowledge in project planning and monitoring;
  • Create a platform for gathering and exchanging new knowledge and management practices for engineering projects that involve significant international dimensions in their execution;
  • Develop training and knowledge‑transfer activities that support the development of a qualified next generation as well as the training of professionals in project planning;
  • Promote closer collaboration between practitioners and members of the scientific community by directly involving professionals in research projects;
  • Develop decision-support tools that assist all activities involved in a project planning process; and
  • Contribute to the international visibility of Canadian expertise in project management.
