Detailed description

An exciting two-year postdoctoral position is available through MITACS Accelerate, under supervision of Dr. Mohammad Latifi at the Chemical Engineering Department of Polytechnique Montreal. This opportunity entails collaboration with the AEM Canada Group, a global leader in ultra-high purity alumina production.

The MITACS project centres on developing a new product tailored for high-tech industries such as semiconductors and lithium-ion batteries.

Candidates with experience in advanced materials synthesis within the ceramic domain, powders technologies, or familiarity with extractive metallurgy (hydrometallurgical/pyrometallurgical processes), who are keen to work in a dynamic team, are encouraged to apply.

The selected candidate will dedicate a significant portion of the project duration to research activities in the industrial partner's laboratory in Montreal. Occasional travel may be required.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :

  • Create out of box solutions.
  • Develop new products for niche and high-tech industries.
  • Design of experiments.
  • Perform experiments on both bench and pilot setups.
  • Work with analytical and characterization equipment.
  • Data analysis and modeling.
  • Compile comprehensive reports, scientific articles, and patents.
  • Add value to the company's intellectual property.
