To find out more about Augustin Brais

In 1975, Mr. Brais joined Polytechnique as a research associate at its Institut de génie nucléaire (nuclear engineering institute). His natural curiosity and contagious desire to contribute to the technological ecosystem led to his concrete involvement in various projects and his development of valuable skills that, in 1997, earned him the position of Director of Polytechnique's Bureau de la recherche et Centre de développement technologique (office of research/centre for technological development).

Mr. Brais held the position for some 14 years, and helped create fruitful relationships with businesses, organizations and the science community. Over nearly 10 years, he supervised the implementation of $217 million in research equipment and infrastructure. Today, Polytechnique Montréal is the university with the most research chairs in Canada, and is recognized for the intensity of its business partnerships.

Mr. Brais' refreshing vision and his strong commitment have significantly contributed to strengthening the innovation ecosystem in Québec. His accomplishments and successes serve as benchmarks and models today for many young (and not-so-young!) entrepreneurs and researchers throughout Québec. His brilliant skills in the realm of technology transfer to industry have positioned him today as one of Québec's great leaders in technological development.

The next generation is here

Polytechnique made quite the impression at the cocktail party preceding the gala, thanks to the presence of three of its student technical societies. Students from the ÉPM Motorsport, Archimède and PolyProject teams had the chance to exhibit their prototypes. The networking event provided the perfect atmosphere for discussion between the next generation and the innovation decision-makers in attendance.

Polytechnique is proud to see Augustin Brais honoured as a builder! Congratulations!
