Two doctoral candidates stand out at the prestigious IEEE International Microwave Symposium

The International Microwave Symposium, which welcomes more than 10,000 people each year, was held from June 5 to 10 in Baltimore, Maryland. Liang Han and Zhen Yu Zhang, doctoral students supervised by Professor Ke Wu, each won an award issued by the Microwave Theory and Techniques Society (MTT-S) of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE).

IEEE-MTT-S Graduate Fellowship for Liang Han

Following a rigorous selection process among numerous candidates worldwide, Mr. Han was awarded a US$6,000 IEEE-MTT-S Graduate Fellowship.

His doctoral project, titled Radar and Radio Data Fusion Platform for Future Intelligent Transportation System, seeks to combine radar reception and radiocommunication functions in a single transmitter.

Last year, Mr. Han won another international award, a EuRAD Young Engineer Prize.

Best Paper Award for Zhen Yu Zhang




Zhen Yu Zhang, a doctoral candidate in microwave and millimetric technology, came second among 24 finalists in the Best Paper Award category. A committee of renowned experts from around the world had to choose from among 300 candidates taking part in the competition. A well-deserved honour for Mr. Zhang!
