South Korea: agreements signed with two prestigious universities
In Seoul, South Korea, Polytechnique CEO Christophe Guy signed an agreement with Seoul National University and renewed one with the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology.
The signing of the agreement with Seoul National University (SNU) made official the existing ties between the two institutions. Professor Yann-Gaël Guéhéneuc of Polytechnique's Department of Computer Engineering has been invited by Professor Kwang-keun Yi of SNU's Department of Computer Science and Engineering to spend part of his sabbatical at SNU. As well, Hugo Rodrigue, a Polytechnique graduate and recipient of the Québec-Korea Bursary, is pursuing his doctorate in mechanical and aerospace engineering at SNU. Professor Jamal Chaouki of Polytechnique's Department of Chemical Engineering was also present for the ceremony.
To strengthen their already close relationship, Polytechnique Montréal and the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST) decided to renew their collaboration agreement, which began in 1998. At the invitation of KAIST, Mr. Guy also took part in the International Presidential Forum on Global Research Universities, which brings together the presidents of the world's most prestigious science and technology universities to discuss research, university-industry partnerships and entrepreneurship.
Student exchanges with the two institutions will also be possible starting in the 2014–2015 academic year.
