On November 12, the Québec Cabinet appointed Louise Millette, associate professor in Polytechnique Montréal's Department of Civil, Geological and Mining Engineering, to the Conseil supérieur de l'éducation (higher council for education – CSE) for a second term.
She will continue to put her knowledge and expertise in education to work for the CSE for coming three years.
The Cabinet also renewed the mandate of Claire Lapointe, professor and Director of the Département des fondements et pratiques en éducation (department of basics and practical elements in education) at Université Laval, as well as Édouard Malenfant, Executive Director of Externat Saint-Jean-Eudes high school, and Amine Tehami, international education consultant, for a term of two years.
The following were also appointed for three-year terms: Sophie Bouchard, Principal of Le Bois-Vivant elementary/secondary school at the Commission scolaire René-Lévesque; Isabelle Gonthier, Principal of Du Ruisselet elementary school at the Commission scolaire de la Seigneurie-des-Mille-Îles; and Jean-Marc Chouinard, Vice-President of the Fondation Lucie et André Chagnon. Bonny Ann Cameron, English teacher and academic advisor at Commission scolaire de la Capitale, was appointed for a two-year term.

As volunteers, its members work at every step of the process of providing advice to the CSE and the Rapport sur l'état et les besoins de l'éducation (the report on the situation and needs of education). They don't serve as spokespersons for their respective organizations, but express their points of view and provide their systemic analysis to help make sure the CSE's work takers into account a diverse range of perspectives.
Professor Millette is also Chair of the Commission de l'enseignement et de la recherche universitaires (commission for university teaching and research) and serves as Vice-Chair of the CSE's Executive Committee.
Our heartiest congratulations, Professor Millette!
