Polytechnique Montréal partners with the Génial show!
Polytechnique Montréal joins Université du Québec à Montréal and Université de Sherbrooke as a partner of the 2012–2013 season of the popular Télé-Québec network quiz show Génial!.
Génial! is an
entertaining weekly game show for the entire family featuring a series of science topics approached in a fun and funny way. The
show is co-hosted by the brilliant team of actor Stéphane Bellavance and scientist Martin Carli, who conduct science
experiments with the help of assistants, including Polytechnique students Ines Boucherit, Sylvain Gagnon and Charles
Poitras.
Some of Polytechnique's laboratories have helped the show's researchers and a few professors have submitted amusing science
experiments for show participants to try during the new season.
Polytechnique is presenting a 15-second ad during the show's broadcasts. Called “Touche de génie” (a word play
translating as both “A stroke of genius” and “A bit of engineering”), this ad was originally produced
by Polytechnique in 2011 for the Radio-Canada TV show Génies en herbe (the French-language equivalent of CBC's
long-running Reach for the Top quiz show for students). The ad shows viewers how engineering is
omnipresent in our daily lives.
The 2012–13 season première of Génial! aired on Thursday, September 13. It will be re-broadcast this Saturday at
3 p.m., Sunday at 7 p.m., next Tuesday, September 18, at 12:30 p.m., and Wednesday, September 19, at 11 p.m. Tune in to
Télé-Québec until April 2013!
