Polytechnique Internship and Placement Office teams up with Manufacturiers et exportateurs du Québec for the Série Enjeux
Comprising six luncheons a year, the Série Enjeux is a Québec industry forum where attendees meet up with distinguished
speakers from business and politics as they address critical issues.
Succession planning to ensure that Québec Inc. prospers
Adequate succession planning is key to corporate continuity; the question is how to pass the baton to the next generation.
That was the topic discussed at yesterday's event by Alain Lemaire, President and CEO of paper manufacturer Cascades, who -- in
an encounter that took the form of an interview -- shared his thoughts on entrepreneurial succession, both in Québec and within
his own organization.

For companies, internships are part of a winning succession strategy. Yesterday's event featured a video sponsored by Polytechnique and starring final-year industrial engineering student Martin Michaud, an intern with IBM Canada. (Click here to watch the video.)
Companies, take note!
Besides being a great way to recruit future graduates, hiring interns means accessing the most cutting-edge knowledge in a
given field, allowing employees in turn to upgrade their own information. Through the Internship and Placement Office,
companies can hire students from 11 engineering specialties for internships lasting 4, 8 or 12 months, depending on their
needs. Cascades has been a major employer of Polytechnique students and graduates for many years.
