Polytechnique graduate Vanessa Cherenfant featured in Québec government campaign Toutes nos origines enrichissent le Québec
Last week, the Québec government launched a campaign entitled Toutes nos origines enrichissent le Québec ("all of our origins
enrich Québec"). The initiative aims to encourage local businesses and managers to hire immigrants, not just to encourage their
integration into the community, but also to benefit from their skills and cultural contributions. Each webisode spotlights a
new Québecer who has joined the workforce, along with a Québécois colleague.
One such vignette features Haiti-born Vanessa Cherenfant, who moved to Montréal in 2003 to study industrial engineering at Polytechnique. There she met fellow student Mireille Bourgault. Later, in the working world, the two women met again by chance. Today, as colleagues at a world-renowned Québec aerospace firm, they work on projects to improve the effectiveness of different teams and work methods.
