PhD student Jaber Moghaddasi wins one of the European Microwave Week (EuMW) 2013 Student Challenges
The PhD student from Polytechnique Montréal was on the team that most distinguished itself at the Student Challenge, a competition that has become a tradition with students from around the world involved in the field of microwaves and wireless communication.
This multidisciplinary competition is an opportunity for bachelor's, master's, and PhD students to work together on a topic that is specific to microwaves, and that is set out by the organizers and announced at the pre-conference meeting.
Each of the teams had to present, explain and defend solutions that could be applied. The proposed project had to be based on at least two of the scientific papers presented at the 2013 EuMW. Jaber Moghaddasi and his teammates, Pero Krivic (Austria) and Riccardo Mero (Italy), won the top prize for their project Future Intelligent In-house Health-monitoring System. The proposed concept was based, among other things, on two ongoing research projects that are being carried out by Jaber Moghaddasi and Ke Wu, Professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering at Polytechnique Montréal.

EuMW 2013 was held in Nuremberg, Germany. The jury was composed of prominent members of academia and industry. Presentations were evaluated on originality, content, feasibility and clarity. A prize worth €1,500, sponsored by Thales Nederland B.V., was awarded to the winning team.
Congratulations!
