The Technology Green 15 Award honours organizations that tackle global environmental challenges by creating technologies and products designed to reduce or eliminate environmental impacts.

Odotech, a 40-employee Polytechnique spin-off company established in 1998, manufactures and markets the OdoWatch "electronic nose network." It also designs, manufactures and installs integrated systems for measuring and monitoring industrial odour emissions. Odotech seeks to protect people and the environment while keeping factory operating costs down. Harmonizing environmental concerns, industrial production and human well-being, OdoWatch electronic nose systems www.odowatch.com) have been installed to date in 10 countries on a wide variety of sites, often in extreme conditions, such as temperatures ranging from -40°C to +50°C.

The technologies marketed by Odotech were first developed at École Polytechnique in the laboratory of Professor Christophe Guy, today Chief Executive Officer of Polytechnique. Dr. Guy's laboratory has trained a number of engineers and experts who now work for Odotech. Under current Odotech CEO Thierry Pagé, the green company continues to work closely with Polytechnique to improve its products.

Odotech sells its products worldwide to firms working in various industries: composting, sanitary landfill, wastewater treatment, rendering, refineries, mining, and agri-food. OdoScan and OdoWatch allow environmental odour emissions to be continuously monitored. Systems alert managers whenever odour emissions reach an unacceptable threshold, allowing them to intervene before odour problems occur.

In 2008, Odotech and Polytechnique received a "Partnership" prize at the 18th Gala des Prix Innovation held by the Association de la recherche industrielle du Québec.

The Technology Green 15 award recognizes Canada's leading "GreenTech" (green technologies) companies. GreenTech includes any technology that promotes a more efficient use and re-use of the earth's resources in industrial production and consumption.

Congratulations to all involved!
