Louise Millette appointed Chair of the Board of Directors of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec Foundation (FOIQ)
Professor Millette has sat on the Foundation Board since September 2011.
Professor Millette, Director of the Department of Civil, Geological and Mining Engineering at Polytechnique Montréal,
succeeds Zaki Ghavitian, who was also President of the Ordre des Ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ) from 2006 to 2009. Created in 2010,
the FOIQ's mission is to support Québec engineering, in particular the next generation.
Professor Millette is the first woman to direct a department at Polytechnique Montréal. Head of the Department of Civil, Geological and Mining Engineering since July 2002, she is also an associate professor in the department and, since January 2013, has been in charge of the Bureau du développement durable (sustainable development office) at Polytechnique Montréal.
Also active on the municipal scene, she was Chair of the Environment & Sustainable Development and Urban Landscapes committees for the Conférence régionale des élus de Montréal from 2002 to 2010. She was part of the environmental delegation of the Sommet de Montréal and actively took part in developing the Montréal community's first strategic sustainable development plan as a founding member. She is pursuing her involvement as a member of the liaison committee for the Premier plan stratégique de développement durable de la collectivité montréalaise 2010–2015 and a member of the environmental indicators steering committee for the Conseil régional de l'environnement de Montréal (CRE).
Since 2012, Professor Millette has sat on the Board of Directors of Ressources Québec, for which she is also a member of the Audit Committee. Ms. Millette is also a member of the Aéroports de Montréal Community Advisory Committee.
