Delphine Périé-Curnier, professor of mechanical engineering, represents Canada in the International Triathlon Union World Championships
The young mother, a professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering and a researcher at the Centre
hospitalier universitaire Sainte-Justine, placed 22nd out of 36 in her age bracket. With her participation, Delphine
Périé-Curnier hoped to raise awareness among students on campus about the importance of adopting healthy living habits and
getting regular physical exercise.
"It is important to set your goals and adopt a rigorous method for reaching them," she said. "My goals are a successful education for my kids and the advancement of my career. My athletic challenges help me carry off bigger scientific challenges. Daily physical activity helps me relieve stress, hold my focus for longer and be more efficient in my work."
Incredible but true: her partner, Daniel Curnier, a professor in the kinesiology department at Université de Montréal, was also among the athletes at the championships. Even their kids, ages 5 and 6, are among Québec's youngest triathletes and were proud to run the kids' mile in the world championships.
Polytechnique congratulates Delphine Périé-Curnier on her admirable determination!
