As a professor-researcher and environmental expert, Mr. Guy has authored more than 100 scientific papers and holds eight patents. Since 2007, this fervent defender of technology transfer has skilfully and successfully directed Polytechnique Montréal, always prioritizing diversity and quality in the teaching and training provided by the institution. Mr. Guy is active within major industry clusters in Montréal and has developed and maintained productive ties between Polytechnique and industry in recent years. As Polytechnique's Dean of Research and Innovation from 2001 to 2007, he equipped the institution with world-class infrastructure and positioned it as a Canadian leader in engineering research and innovation. In 2011, he was elevated to the rank of Officer of the Ordre national du Québec, the highest distinction bestowed by the Government of Québec.

Membership in the Order of Canada recognizes outstanding contributions at the local or regional level or in a special field of activity. The awards will be presented at a ceremony at Rideau Hall at a later date.
