This professor emeritus of Polytechnique Montreal was awarded this prestigious honor in the framework of the fifteenth International Conference on Cold Regions Engineering in the presence of Denis Brière, President of the Laval University.

Research excellence and commitment in civil and nordic engineering have allowed Branko Ladanyi to receive many honors from the Engineering Institute of Canada (EIC), the Canadian Academy of Engineering (CAE), the Canadian Society for Civil Engineering (CSCE) and the Royal Society of Canada.

Laval University awards honorary doctorates to personalities from both the academic world and civil society in Quebec, Canada and around the world.

An honorary doctorate, the highest distinction awarded by the University, is an exceptional brand recognition. The person who receives it has a remarkable and exemplary radiation considered in one of the fields of activity of the University.

Since 1864, the first year that Laval University gave an honorary doctorate, nearly 1,100 were awarded.
