Prestigious distinction for Professor David Haccoun
David Haccoun, a full professor in Polytechnique's
Department of Electrical Engineering, has received the 2012 R. A. Fessenden Award from the Institute of Electrical and
Electronics Engineers (IEEE) for his contribution to the field of telecommunications. Professor Haccoun was chosen to receive the honour for his outstanding contributions in
transmission error control by convolutional coding and its wireless communications applications.
This award, presented annually since 2000 by the
IEEE Canada, recognizes the excellence of Canadian engineers in the field of telecommunications engineering. The silver
R. A. Fessenden award commemorates Reginald Aubrey Fessenden's first transmission of intelligible speech by electromagnetic
waves.
The award, consisting of a silver medal and a plaque, will be presented to Professor Haccoun in April 2012 during the 21st
Canadian Conference on Electrical and Computer Engineering.
