Professor Samuel Pierre receives the Order of Canada

Some 60 Canadians, including Samuel Pierre, a Professor in Polytechnique Montréal's Department of Computer and Software Engineering, were recently appointed to the Order of Canada..


On December 30, His Excellency the Right Honourable David Johnston, Governor General of Canada, announced 66 new appointments to the Order of Canada, one of the country's highest civilian honours. Among the 15 Québecers honoured, Professor Pierre was recognized for his contribution to the field of wired and wireless communications networks, and for his volunteerism within Québec's Haitian community.

The Order of Canada was established in 1967 to recognize a lifetime of outstanding achievement, dedication to community and service to the nation. The awards will be presented at a ceremony at Rideau Hall to be held at a later date.
