On Wednesday March 28, 2018, a small delegation from the FCSEL participated in the ASM International Montreal Chapter annual student night and poster competition. This networking event is designed to encourage students to share their work and discover research in the field of materials being undertaken in the Montreal region. In addition to the poster session, an invited talk was given by Marie-Josée Potvin from the Canadian Space Agency on material requirements for space challenges.
Etienne Bousser and Jin-Cheng Qian, both from our laboratory, were invited to evaluate the posters. Jacques Lengaigne, one of our PhD students, presented a poster on a novel solid particle erosion testing methodology on real aerospace components, entitled: “Bridging the gap between laboratory and application: A novel in situ erosion testing methodology of compressor blades”. The poster was awarded the second-place prize for Ph.D. student posters.

Many thanks to the ASM International Montreal Chapter organizing committee and to the industrial sponsors who made this inspiring evening possible!
