Activity SummaryLaboratory of Immersive Virtual RealitySince 2000, the LIRV has the first reality environment virtual immersion Automatic Cave Virtual Environment (CAVE) installed in Quebec. This equipment is used for research with my students, for teaching and for research and development. The increasing complexity and size of 3D computing domains have motivated the exploration of advanced techniques of reality in immersion environments (CAVE, ImmersaDesk, Reality Center, etc.). These environments allow visualizing geometries and digital solutions in 3D images using stereoscopic vision principles assisted by glasses. Users have the illusion of a 3D object around which or in which they can move. This allows to work with objects instead of images of objects. Our research in Virtual Reality takes place in the CAVE installed in this laboratory at École Polytechnique de Montréal. Molecule EditorThe Molecule Editor MolEdit was created to serve as test platform for the various projects conducted in visualization scientist, while giving chemistry researchers a tool for visualization and editing of molecules performing in immersive mode. The testing platform has been ideal to show some aspects of our research, MolEdit allowed us to make the most of news technologies offered by our WLV scene graph , in addition to contributing to the success of several collaborative experiences with remote scientists.
