- Title: Study of automated shuttle interactions in city traffic using surrogate measures of safety.
- Summary: This research project examines two automated shuttle pilot projects conducted in urban areas in Quebec in 2019. These shuttles are partially automated and always supervised by an operator, and circulate at low speeds on pre-defined routes on low-traffic streets. More specifically, the study concerns the use of video recordings, as well as computer vision techniques to evaluate the interactions between different road users and these automated vehicles. The primary objective of the research project was to assess the safety of the interactions between these shuttles using safety indicators. The secondary objective was to explore the characteristics of traffic with automated shuttles.
