Activity SummaryScientific Visualization and LinguisticsFrom 1992 to 1999, in the context of a generic interdisciplinary activity in the field of scientific visualization, this project developed a configurable environment for scientific visualization based on a formal linguistic paradigm. Coupled with a large set of functions for data manipulation and and representation of data, this software has established itself as a flexible tool for solution analysis in engineering and in several application areas. These innovative activities have resulted in the development of of a generic tool for scientific visualization and analysis of numerical simulations in a multidisciplinary framework. The simplicity and simplicity and power of the paradigm and the syntagm used have resulted in a user-configurable software environment for the visualization data visualization that is applicable to multiple domains and specialties. specialties. During this period, several publications and an intensive course at the Von Karman Institute (specialized in fluid mechanics) have allowed the diffusion of this new visualization paradigm. In 1998, this scientific visualization software was integrated into an immersive virtual reality environment and won the Best Industrial Collaboration Award at the IEEE Super Computing 98 (SC98) conference. The scientific visualization group was very active until the closure of CERCA in 2003 and this tool gave birth, in 2003, to a spin-off company that continues to develop and commercialize this scientific visualization software. This software has been used by engineers and researchers in universities, research centers and industries in Quebec and elsewhere. Publications :Highly Qualified Personnel Training (HQP) :
