Activity SummaryVirtual Reality Journey of a Radiation Therapy Patient( #infographie, #images de synthèse, #réalité virtuelle ) In collaboration with the Radiation Oncology Department of the Centre hospitalier universitaire de Montréal (CHUM/Notre-Dame) in 2008 and 2009, this project aimed to create a 3D modeling of a treatment room in oncology. We have thus constructed a virtual reproduction of a patient's journey in radiotherapy. The goal is to use a Head-mounted display (HMD) and virtual reality techniques to present a visual environment that will reduce stress in patients during future treatments. The patient, accompanied by a psychologist, can thus visualize virtually the treatment room, the treatment procedures and reduce his fear and his stress for real treatments. The complete graphical modeling of the waiting corridor, as well as a virtual reality radiotherapy room was performed from May to August 2008 and an interactive software was created by a first student (Salah Eddine Essid) to present this environment in a visiocasque. This work has generated a great deal of interest among the treating psychologists. The project continued in 2009 with the introduction, in new software created by the other students of the team, some others virtual environments according to the needs described by psychologists. These environments were used by the company PSYmedicis and psychologists at the CHUM. Publications :Highly Qualified Personnel Training (HQP) :
