The Department of Mathematics and Industrial Engineering currently has 47 professors and 10 lecturers. The Department of Mathematics and Industrial Engineering is responsible for numerous programs and courses within the institution: the baccalaureate program in industrial engineering, professional master's and DESS programs in industrial engineering, research master's programs and doctorate in industrial engineering and applied mathematics, as well as offers a variety of certificates.
The candidate will hold a position as professor of statistics in the mathematics unit. All areas of statistical expertise will be considered. Specialization in big data and computational statistics would be an asset. The candidate sought will be able to develop original mathematical models which can be applied to various fields. The recruited person will actively participate in the development of data science training programs.
The candidate will have to exercise with dynamism and creativity the functions associated with this position. In particular, he or she must:
Teach at the undergraduate and the graduate levels.
Develop and maintain an original research program.
Supervise undergraduate and graduate students.
Obtain grants and contracts to train highly qualified personnel through research.
Publish scientific results of their research work.
Collaborate with other Polytechnique Montréal research groups and other institutions.
Contribute to the influence of Polytechnique Montréal in Québec and internationally.

The successful candidate should hold a PhD in statistics or in a related field. Relevant postdoctoral experience will be an advantage.
The position does not require that the recruited person be registered with the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ) as an engineer. However, a candidate who is registered, or who would take the necessary measures to become one, would be an asset.
Given that the teaching language is French, the successful candidate will be fluent in French, both spoken and written, before applying for tenure. Polytechnique Montréal will provide the necessary assistance and support for the successful candidate to become a registered member of the OIQ and to learn French.

This faculty position is tenure-track. Salary and benefits will be set in accordance with the collective agreement in effect Association des professeurs de l'École Polytechnique - APEP).
