The Department of Electrical Engineering counts 33 professors, one senior lecturer, 26 support staff, many postdoctoral researchers, professional researchers and research assistants, 577 undergraduate and 167 graduate students. The department leads internationally-recognized research, in close collaboration with industry, in several core areas such as: biomedical engineering, medical imaging, automation and systems, power systems and networks, microelectronics, telecommunications and microwaves, etc.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Department of Electrical Engineering is seeking exceptional candidates for one tenure track faculty position at the assistant or associate professor levels.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The successful candidate will be expected to carry out the duties of this position with a dynamic and creative approach. In particular, they will:

  • Demonstrate a commitment to excellence in teaching at both the undergraduate and graduate levels;
  • Supervise undergraduate and graduate students;
  • Carry out innovative research projects;
  • Obtain grants and contracts to train highly qualified personnel through research work;
  • Publish the scientific results of their research;
  • Participate in the Department’s teaching and research activities;
  • Collaborate with other research teams within Polytechnique Montréal or with other institutions;
  • Contribute to the influence of Polytechnique Montréal in Québec and internationally.

AREA OF EXPERTISE

The Department is seeking candidates able to conduct innovative research in emerging fields related to the design of complex microelectronic systems such as processors, application-specific circuits (ASICs or ASIPs), FPGAs, or design of analog, RFIC and mixed circuits. Applications of interest for the Department include but are not limited to artificial intelligence, quantum computers, computation accelerators, biomedical technologies, wired or wireless telecommunications systems, data center energy efficiency, autonomous systems, smart energy distribution networks, and smart autonomous systems with energy harvesting.

Applications with no significant contributions in circuit design will not be considered.

START DATE

As soon as possible.

QUALIFICATIONS

The successful candidate must hold a Bachelor's degree and a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering or in a relevant discipline.

The successful candidate will be registered as a Professional Engineer with the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ), or will take the necessary steps to register prior to applying for tenure. Candidates must demonstrate excellent research and teaching skills. Relevant industry experience is an asset. Given that the teaching language is French, the successful candidate will be fluent in French, both spoken and written, before applying for tenure. Polytechnique Montréal will provide assistance and support for the successful candidate to become a registered member of the OIQ and to learn French.

WORKING CONDITIONS

This faculty position is tenure-track. Salary and benefits are set in accordance with the collective agreement in effect. The latter includes arrangements for work-life balance and offers maternity, paternity and adoption leaves in addition to the Québec Parental Insurance Plan.
