MEDIA INVITATION - Chinese multinational Huawei Technologies chooses Polytechnique Montréal to establish its Research Chair in Future Wireless Technologies

Montréal – Media representatives are cordially invited to the official inauguration of the NSERC/Huawei Industrial Research Chair in Future Wireless Technologies, on Friday, February 10, 2017, at 1:30 p.m. at Polytechnique Montréal. Among those in attendance will be representatives of the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC) and Huawei Canada, one of the world’s largest manufacturers of ICT and telecommunications equipment.

The Internet of Things (IoT), 5G networks, interconnectivity, microwave sciences and radiofrequency – these are just some of the topics of tomorrow that will be explored by members of the FuWiC Chair (Future Wireless Chair), the first university research program created by the Chinese multinational Huawei Technologies.

Polytechnique’s new chair will receive $5 million over five years, more than half of which will come from Huawei, with the remainder invested the NSERC.

The FuWiC Chair will be held by internationally known professor Ke Wu, recognized repeatedly for his research and achievements in the fields of science as well as radiofrequency, microwave and millimetre-wave engineering.
