WorkING ON CAMPUS

Full-time international students at École Polytechnique de Montréal with a valid study permit are authorized to work on the Université de Montréal campus, whether or not the job is connected to their studies. In these circumstances, they do not need to apply for a work permit.

Note that this authorization entails working a maximum of 20 hours a week during the school year. However, students can work full-time during holiday periods (with the exception of students enrolled in summer classes, who are again restricted to 20 hours a week).

If you are an international student at Polytechnique, your study permit lets you work anywhere on campus — including Université de Montréal, HEC Montréal and the Centre d'éducation physique et des sports de l'Université de Montréal (CEPSUM).

However, keep in mind that there are a limited number of on-campus jobs available and that the income from these jobs is insufficient to cover all your needs.

We are unable to provide a list of the jobs currently available on campus. You are advised to prepare a letter of interest and a CV, and go in person to the various services and departments that may be interested in hiring you.

The following are good places to start your job search.

Polytechnique: the cafeteria, library, Coopoly, computer services, your department, Service aux étudiants (student services);

HEC Montréal: http://www.polymtl.ca/inter/etuvisi/en/travailstages/index.php

Université de Montréal: http://www.csedc.umontreal.ca/emploi/index.htm or the bulletin board on the third floor of the J-A De Sève Building (2332 Édouard Montpetit).

CEPSUM: http://www.cepsum.umontreal.ca/.
