WARNING: THIS PAGE IS NOT UP-TO-DATE!
Additional procedural changes were introduced by CIC on December 15, 2012. This page will be updated shortly to reflect them. In the meanwhile, you should refer to CIC website, call CIC Call Centre at 1-888-242-2100 or send them an email to question@cic.gc.ca

Important Information

  • Temporary resident visa is only issued outside of Canada
  • Request a multiple entry visa if you plan to return on holiday in your country
  • Please note that the Canadian Embassy, in some countries refuse to grant temporary resident visas with multiple entries. Find out before you apply, if it is possible to obtain a multiple entry visa. If this is not the case, you must renew it every time you exit the territory.

In addition to a study permit, citizens of certain countries must obtain a Temporary Resident Visa (TRV) to enter Canada. This may be a single- or multiple-entry visa. Consult here the list of nationalities that require a temporary resident visa.

The TRV is obtained from outside of Canada at the same time as the study permit. The fee for a multiple-entry visa is $150 CDN; a single-entry visa costs $75 CDN.
