Research interests and affiliations

Research interests

My current research interests focus mostly on biomedical imaging of the brain and of the heart, and on advanced data analysis methods. I am currently aiming to build expertise in magnetic resonance imaging. This involves a number of projects requiring sequence development, with applications in atherosclerosis, stroke, pediatrics, aging, exercise and epilepsy. This work is mainly based at the Montreal Heart Institute. I am also directing research projects in multimodal imaging of animal and human epilepsy, which contribute to a better understanding of the neuro-metabolic-vascular coupling. These experiments call for a broad range of measurements, requiring diverse expertise: electrophysiology (electroencephalography, extracellular electrodes), near infrared spectroscopy, intrinsic optical imaging, optical coherence tomography, two-photon, and magnetic resonance.

Philippe holds a Ph.D. in physics from Rutgers University and was a researcher in theoretical particle physics at UC Santa Barbara, UT Austin and Imperial College London. He was also an associate at Morgan Stanley in London, specialized in asset-liability management.
